Pinterest recently unveiled Pincodes, which function similarly to QR codes; Nordstrom and Home Depot are among the first brands implement those codes in-store.
The colorful Pincodes appear next to certain products. Shoppers can scan the codes using Pinterest’s Lens feature, after which they are taken to branded Pinterest boards.
QR codes, thought to be a dead marketing tactic, have seen a sudden resurgence in recent months, and Pinterest is certainly jumping in to the conversation with this new feature. These new Pincodes will be a great link between the physical shopping experience and the discovery journey that Pinterest users go through on a regular basis.
