NBC’s Saturday Night Live is allowing its fans to choose the next host or musical guest through Facebook and Twitter. The show has noticed that a significant number of their fan base uses social media in an effot to suggest musicians and hosts. Saturday Night Live has decided to create a Facebook status once a month asking for proposals from their fans. On Twitter, the show will promote the hashtags #SNLHost and #SNLMusic for users to offer up their suggestions. This allows SNL to keep track of what their fans are communicating and give them what they want. Betty White hosted the show after a Facebook group was started in 2010 that included 500,000 fans suggesting to feature the actress. The most recent request from the SNL fan base includes Avengers star Tom Hiddleston. This type of crowdsourcing through social media provides a different type of relationship between the show and the viewer. To learn more, click here.
