McDonald’s Sweden gave away picnic blankets with scannable QR codes that allow customers to instantly place mobile orders for food delivery to any location.
As a part of McDonalds’ campaign to promote its food-delivery services, the restaurant gave away these limited-edition blankets through its social media channels. Once customers scan the QR code with a mobile phone, their geographic location is sent to the delivery service of their choice, such as Uber Eats. Then, the order is prepared by the nearest restaurant and brought straight to the blanket by the delivery service.
Through this campaign, McDonald’s has the opportunity to show fans how quick, convenient and flexible its delivery services are. Offering outdoor delivery also allows the restaurant to become more relevant during the summer time period.
