Amazon will soon release an in-app feature for their Kindle Fire HD that will allow their users to purchase physical items while inside an app. Working with ActiVision, Amazon’s pilot for this new app feature is going to be within the new upcoming game application, Skylanders Cloud Patrol. According to AllThingsD, a distinct toy is going to be available within the game for one-click purchase, after which customers will immediately be able to play as a digital version of the character in the game as well. According to Mashable, “The move will open up a new revenue stream for developers, giving them further incentive to develop apps that are compatible with the Kindle Fire.” Given the future possibilities of this innovative example of digital marketing, this is not only a huge step for Amazon and their Kindle series, but for the app industry as a whole.
