The weekend of September 1st, Star Wars fans from all over the world are invited to “Find the Force” using a special augmented reality app.

Participating retailers will have a scannable graphic in-store. When scanned with the Star Wars app, fans will unlock Star Wars characters – some old and some new. The three day pop-up event builds up to the announcement of a new character to be debuted in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

When participants tag #FindtheForce and #Sweepstakes throughout the weekend and include a photo featuring one of the revealed characters, those in certain markets are entered in a sweepstakes for the chance to win tickets to the newest Star Wars movie’s premier in December.

This event’s reach will be huge, and this application of AR will likely turn out to be a great bridge between digital presence and retail success.
