Players will tell you that when you play Minecraft you can do it all. Well now, thanks to Verizon, you really can.

Verizon recently introduced a virtual smartphone which allows players to browse the Internet, make video calls and use a selfie stick to send MMS selfies to a friend all within the world of Minecraft. Through a custom web application called Boxel, Verizon is able to turn real web pages and videos into blocks – which make up almost the entirety of the Minecraft world – so they can live on the Minecraft server in real time.

The project is part of Verizon’s larger Better Matters campaign, which highlights how the brand makes a positive difference in the lives of its consumers by fostering the connections that matter most to them. The launch is brilliant for both Minecraft and Verizon, giving users even more of a reason to stay inside the game and allowing them to have meaningful, useful interactions with Verizon within an entertainment platform. A brand couldn’t ask for much more.
