To help fans celebrate Valentine’s Day in true Colonel Sanders style, KFC launched a Reddit contest, inviting users to tap into their creative side for the chance to win an ultimate chicken-lovers date night in pack.

Fans had the opportunity to show off their creativity through one of three subreddit contests. For graphic designers, there was a photoshop contest where they had to incorporate a Colonel Sanders bearskin rug into a romantic masterpiece. Artists could participate in a drawing duel, creating sketches of a romantic evening inspired by the rug. Those who preferred words to visuals were asked to write a romantic vignette inspired by KFC. The most creative entry in each category won a limited-edition faux Colonel Sanders bearskin rug, two fried chicken onesies, a gift card for KFC for two, and a subscription to an online streaming service.

Through this competition, KFC found a creative and timely way to engage the Reddit community and spark conversation around the brand. The campaign also generated a ton of fun, shareable UGC that will engage consumers long after the competition is over.
